Have you received an invite from your mom or dad wanting to become your newest friend on Facebook? Or perhaps you have you attempted to add your own child to your lists of friends. More and more parents are using social network sites such as Facebook and Myspace to monitor their children. It’s great to use because you can get a glimpse into what their social life is like, what kind of music they listen to, who their friends are, what parties they are talking about in their status updates.
As more and more parents join Facebook to do this activity the parents themselves start to become addicted to games such as Farmville, Mafia Wars, or Bejeweled (a game my dad keeps trying to invite me to play with him!)
In this article from Mom Logic, Beth Falkenstein talks about being accepted to her daughter’s friend list on Facebook. “Yes, I was nervous when I sent them my friend requests. Would they accept it, or ignore me?” But she had some sort of comfort knowing that each of her kids accepting her invitation.
Now where is the Farmville relation to this story? Well, This mother is addicted to Farmville. She says that all the checking up on her daughter’s activities doesn’t interrupt her game play at all.
